WINERY
To us, "House wine" or, as the Walliser says, "Eigänä (our own)," means we do everything from planting the vines, picking the grapes, bottling to labeling the bottles. We do it all ourselves.
Just below Zeneggen at an altitude of 800-900 meters above sea level, our three sorts of vines, Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder), Johannisberg (Silvaner), and Muscat, prosper. The mild climate and the vineyard's sheltered location in the "Riedboden" enable us to create a fruity, rich wine.
In late autumn, we harvest the grapes then press them in our wine cellar. Following spring, we bottle the finished wine. Teruko Yokoi, a Japanese artist, living in Bern, designed the labels for us.
Sadly, we do not produce enough wine each year to last the season. Nevertheless, you will find an excellent selection of further distinguished, local wines on our wine list!
We cultivate 3 varieties of wine.
Pinot noir
The Pinot Noir is a red grape variety cultivated in the Valais and internationally renowned for its elegance and finesse. Wines from this grape are characterized by subtle aromas of red fruits such as cherries and strawberries, accompanied by delicate spiciness and a velvety mouthfeel. They are often accompanied by a lively acidity structure and can develop additional complexity with age.
Johannisberg
The Johannisberg, also known as Sylvaner, is a white wine grape native to the Valais region, producing characteristic wines with fresh and fruity aromas. These wines often exhibit notes of green apples, citrus fruits, and blossoms, coupled with a lively acidity and a light, refreshing mouthfeel. The Johannisberg is excellent as an aperitif or paired with light dishes and salads.
Muscat
The Muscat is an aromatic grape variety cultivated in the Valais region, producing wines with an intense aroma of muscat and flowers. These wines are often very aromatic and fruity, with notes of peaches, orange blossoms, and spices. In the mouth, they frequently present themselves with lively acidity and pleasant freshness. The Muscat is well-suited as an aperitif or paired with exotic dishes and desserts.
